After Azuma destroys the fleet of council ships summoned by Doranbalt for support, Wendy demands Doranbalt's assistance in defeating him however, they and Lily are overpowered and nearly killed. Mest reveals himself to be a Magic Council agent named Doranbalt, who is searching for incriminating evidence against Fairy Tail to disband the guild. While Lily confronts him over his identity, Mest rescues Wendy from an attack by Azuma, one of the Seven Kin. Transcription: " Shingeki no Makarofu" ( Japanese: 進撃のマカロフ) Meanwhile, Carla and Panther Lily find Wendy Marvell and her exam partner, Mest Gryder, whom Lily deduces is not a member of Fairy Tail as he claims to be. ![]() Erza lights a beacon signifying the exam's suspension and the enemy attack, but Yomazu tells her that one of the Seven Kin of Purgatory, Grimoire Heart's elite team, is already on the island. Meanwhile, Erza Scarlet and Juvia Lockser find Levy and interrogate Yomazu, who warns them about Grimoire Heart's intentions. Remembering Fairy Tail master Makarov Dreyar's willingness to guide him despite his bringing harm to Fairy Tail, Gajeel gains morale and defeats the two scouts. After being seriously wounded, Gajeel sends Levy to warn their guildmates of Grimoire Heart's attack. Gajeel and Levy fight Yomazu and Kawazu, who are scouting the island to kill Fairy Tail wizards. Transcription: " Tetsu no Tamashii" ( Japanese: 鉄の魂) Gajeel rescues her, and the two prepare to engage in a duel. After separating from Gajeel Redfox because of an argument, Levy McGarden is attacked by Grimoire Heart members Yomazu and Kawazu. Meanwhile, Grimoire Heart travels to Sirius Island in search of the wizard in black, who is revealed to be the infamous dark wizard Zeref. Despite the encounter, the participants resolve to continue their exam and split up. However, Zeref defeats Natsu in a duel, leaving him wounded. Natsu Dragneel encounters the black-robed wizard, who is interrupting Fairy Tail's S-Class promotional trial on Sirius Island. Transcription: " Kuro Madōshi" ( Japanese: 黒魔導士) The ending themes, used with the opening themes, are "Kono Te Nobashite" ( この手伸ばして, "Reach Out This Hand") and "Boys Be Ambitious", both performed by Hi-Fi Camp, and "Glitter (Starving Trancer Remix)" by Another Infinity. The opening themes are "Towa no Kizuna" ( 永久のキズナ, "Everlasting Bond") performed by Daisy x Daisy until episode 111, "I Wish" performed by Milky Bunny until episode 124, and "Hajimari no Sora" ( はじまりの空, "Beginning Sky") performed by +Plus for the rest of the season. The season makes use of 6 pieces of theme music: three opening themes and three ending themes. The episodes were made available on Funimation's website as "Season 4". Funimation Entertainment released the episodes with their own English-dubbed version across three Blu-ray/DVD box sets, released on March 25, May 20, and July 15 in 2014 along with the first six episodes of season 5. The season was licensed for a dubbed broadcast in English by Animax Asia, which released it as part of "Season 3". Seven DVD compilations were released, each containing four episodes, by Pony Canyon between March 7 and September 5, 2012. The season initially ran from Octoto Apon TV Tokyo in Japan. It continues the "Sirius Island" ( 天狼島編, "Tenrōjima-hen" ) story arc from the third season, where Fairy Tail's S-Class examination on Sirius Island is interrupted by the arrival of Grimoire Heart, who attempt to retrieve the dark wizard Zeref living on the island. Like the rest of the series, it follows the adventures of Natsu Dragneel and Lucy Heartfilia of the fictional guild Fairy Tail. The fourth season of the Fairy Tail anime series was directed by Shinji Ishihira and produced by A-1 Pictures and Satelight. ![]()
